Lately, I have seen so many advertisements in the newspapers and online social networking site which portray– “100% Job is guaranteed after completion of the training.”
It happened to me 15 years ago. There was an advertisement in the daily newspaper said — “Earn 17,000 NRs monthly.” Being a penniless student I called on that number and expressed my interest to become a part of it. They called me in an interview. I had to pay 500 NRs. for the test. It was some sorts of English Proficiency Test. I took a part in. They played few audio tapes for 10 minutes and after that they handed us the paper. We had to mark on the statement on the basis of audio which we listened few minutes ago. I did. Then the receptionist took me to the Manager of that Call center. He told me that I need to take a part in the training due to poor English; and the training fee was 8,000 Nrs. I was really angry at him. I said him -“I have a very good marks in TOEFL and I am studying Major English as well.” And questioned him — “How have you judged me?” He was smiling and told me to take a part in the training and then only he can assure a job in that bloody call center. I walked out from that office regretting I wasted my 10 days transportation expenses.
A few weeks ago, a young boy came to me and flourished his query whether he becomes a successful person after acquiring Academic Degree in a certain field. I straightly told him ‘No’. I know he felt offended. But it’s the truth. Perhaps, none of the University in the world guarantee success of the students after their completion of the degree. Only few or none of the Uni assures the jobs for the students after completion of their studies. A wise man once told me that there are three things which is very hard in human’s life–to learn, to be able to fit and to be sustained.
It is very hard to learn. You can’t earn unless you learn. In order to earn you need to apply the knowledge. When you become fit in certain offices or areas in your life on the basis of your knowledge, then again it is very hard to stabilize. It is very much true that an academic degree’s certificate is just a piece of paper unless you act on your skills and competencies. It is obvious that success is guaranteed who have competencies and apply the knowledge.
Each and every individual in this Universe is unique and nobody can become you. You are the experts of your own life. So whenever you see such 100% job guarantees stuffs then pose the questions to yourself — do they know you? Are they aware about your competency? Are they familiar about your interest?
The answer is absolutely ‘NO’ because they are shimmering the advertisements towards the people without meeting and seeing them; and they are making the money by entrapping the innocent people. They are holding the positions and jobs on the basis of candidates who come to them because of such advertisements.
Whenever you see any adds or someone says — “100% Job Guarantee after the training or some other stuffs… then Please Walk out. Because at the end you will go through some bloody hell.
I genuinely do understand when clients say they’re looking for a change, but don’t know what it is yet or how to achieve it. Because I have been there, done that and thankfully was lucky enough to walk away to now be doing a job where I never have to think “Thank God it’s Friday (TGIF).”
