There is a drastic change in Nepali society due to modernization, technological advancement, modern education, capitalism and so on. Despite such advancement and change in society; it is bitter to say that we are the sickest, most depressed and suicidal generation of all time. Thousands of people around the country look to academics and scholars for the answers. There are countless gurus, methods and ideologies that claim to have the ‘answers to the solutions’.

If you are sad, “Go see a professional.”
If you are directionless, “Go see a specialist.”
If you are stuck, “Practice some techniques.”
If you are simply different from others, “Go claim your professionally diagnosed condition.”
Perhaps the people are tired of ‘Diagnose-everything-a-lism’, ‘quick-fix-a-lism’ and are ready for a new era, for a new way of thinking.
The academic ‘professionals’ have had their day. We need the real people back, and once again build the strong ties among one another, invest their hometowns and societies.
We have had our era of ‘diagnosing absolutely everything’ and it hasn’t served anyone.
We have had our era of ‘positive thinking’ and ‘quick fix’ solutions for the issues people face. This hasn’t served many of the people either.
We have had our era of ‘motivating people’. I am afraid people are excited rather than being motivated.
I believe that we need a new era which is the era of responsibility and emotional support. We don’t have any rights to label others. I believe in ‘empowerment’. Empowerment in life comes only via taking full responsibility of ourselves, for our families, for our cultures and societies.
